Ideas
It's one thing to book an act, its another to get people
to come out. Many folks make the mistake of thinking
that bar owners are a philanthropic lot. The way it
works is you book you band , you promote, you work with
the booking agent and venue to promote, you beg, you
do what ever it takes to get people to come out to your
shows.
Notice I use the word "you". The club/venue/agent
will only do so much to get people out. The rest is
up to you and your efforts. The following resources
are available to any who want to use them. Remember,
Myspace is NOT the only way to promote!
Texas
Office of Music - THE source for media contacts
The Texas Music Office serves as the
information clearinghouse and promotion office for
the Texas music industry.
This site contains 15,962 business, band or event
listings totaling 3,028 printed pages.
Radio and newpaper contact are here.
Contact local college papers as well as mainstream
print. Tell them about your show. Many radio stations
offer FREE on-air calenders.
If you are from out of town, but a drivable
distance, contact your local media as well as the
media in the venue's area.
The
Bard's Crier - Unsigned Band Promotions
No matter what genre of music, getting
your act recognized is the same. The creator of this
site is in a Celtic band that specializes in Renesannce
Festivals. Their road to success in that niche market
lead Marc to share his ideas of what works and what
to avoid. Sign up for his eZine!
Advice from Hunter
S. Thompson on life and the music industry:
When the going
gets weird, the weird turn pro.
The music business
is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic
hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good
men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Contact
me at time you book your act! We have other endeavors
and will need to schedule my time well in advance. If
you know who your fellow acts are that night, make contact
with them to see if they are interested. Keep in mind,
our fees are per band, not per night.
